Happy reading, healthy eyes

Happy reading, healthy eyes

Happy reading, happy eyes!

Do you have Children's Book Week in your country? In many European countries there is a reading promotion campaign that aims to inspire children to start reading and read more.

Reading and healthy eyes
Reading is not only incredibly fun and educational for children - it also has a positive effect on school performance. Having good eyesight is of course very important in this respect. Not only because 90% of the information at school is transmitted visually, but also because good eyesight ensures that children can read comfortably. And perhaps most importantly: they enjoy it more! With good glasses, children will pick up a book more quickly and therefore read more. Good eyesight can therefore be an important factor in contributing to reading pleasure and indirectly to improved school performance!

Reading a lot does mean that children look up close for a long time, which can contribute to myopia
That is why we focus on healthy reading habits and the 20-20-2 rule in our blog and marketing materials. You can use this campaign in your country's Children Book Week to pay attention to healthy reading habits.

In this campaign you will find:

  • Blog about the prevention of myopia while enjoy reading
  • Flyer, open Indesign files
  • Pictures with a reading theme
  • Social media messages
  • Milo & Me bookmark, print ready and in open files
  • Poster

As a give away during the Children's book week, we created a Milo & Me bookmark. You can download the print ready file, or use the open file to create your own.

You can use the flyer to send with the orders to your opticians, download the open Indesign files with the link below the downloads. You can use the PDF's as a preview of the designs.

Blog for parents - keep your children's eyes healthy

Reading increases children's language skills, stimulates creativity and imagination, and promotes critical thinking. Additionally, it is also a lot of fun!
However, looking up close for a long time can contribute to myopia (nearsightedness). To ensure that your little bookworm keeps healthy eyes, it is important to know what myopia is and how you can prevent it.

It's Children's Book Week! This means that your kids are probably engrossed in books, or that you are reading a lot of adventures to them. Have you noticed that your child is suddenly not doing so well? Or do you observe that your child keeps closing the book because they can't see it properly? If so, please make an appointment with us. Good eyesight makes reading fun!

Immerse yourself in books during Book Week! Here's a tip: Follow the 20-20-2 rule from the Eye Fund. After 20 minutes of close reading, take a 20-second break to look into the distance. You can turn it into a game and do it together. Also, make sure to spend 2 hours playing outside. This will help keep your kids' eyes healthy and ensure they have the concentration to continue reading. 😊
